In 1874 the great Italian actress Adelaide Ristori, born in Cividale del Friuli, started an artistic tour called Il giro del mondo (Around the World). The sea voyage, which lasted twenty months and nineteen days, has been the most impressive ever taken by a theater company. Marco Piazza, Corrado’s great-grandfather, was the juvenile lead of the company. His precious letters to his parents, collected and published in 1948, represent the historical memory of triumphs which remain unmatched to this day, along with being the direct witness of an epic adventure. From here derives the suggestions raised by the reading: the encounter with different cultures, the difficult docking, the dangers of a nature which could be either welcoming or hostile, and the humanity of the passengers. Rachele and Roberto read the same letters. It has been years since their last meeting. Over time they have had different musical experiences, but the strong sensations sparked by the reading inspired them and brought them closer again. The imagination of that sea voyage suddenly brought the three musicians on the deck of the Lusitania steamboat, after twenty years and with contrasting feelings: passengers or survivors? Now their musical journey can start. It will be an adventure full of sounds, rhythms and melodies whose result combines tradition and new compositions, custom and originality, past and present, and integrating the music of the area where they live (Veneto region) with that one from other countries.
