Folkest in Cadore

Cadore, with its territorial subdivisions, cultural traditions, language, rules and the Magnificent Community, is a territory that naturally lends itself to a cultural and tourist project like that of Folkest, which will bring concerts at the foot of the Dolomites, a locality of high environmental, urban and architectural value, meetings with leading music personalities and with world cultures, photographic exhibitions and instruments of popular music (even itinerant), presentations of books dedicated to the subject and in-depth analysis of various kinds, a special project dedicated to the promotion of music and local traditions with an inter-Ladin ensemble including musicians from Graubünden, central Ladin and Friuli.

Folkest is a traveling music festival that goes beyond the simple musical aspect, with the revitalization of squares, parks, castles as perfect scenarios for setting concerts, events, moments of study, taking on the role of cultural and tourist promotion of the territory. A value that the Mayor of Auronzo, Tatiana Pais Becher, did not miss in order to launch a project, already during the summer, with three dates in Val D’Ansiei, to then arrive during the year, and in the perspective of 2020, to the involvement of the entire Cadore territory and to the enhancement of the artists who are already working on site.

The culture, traditions, language, music as an opportunity for cultural and tourist growth for the Cadore territory – declares Pais Becher – are an opportunity not to be missed. Even a festival can combat depopulation, if it manages to involve and enhance the young Cadore artists so that they can continue to produce music and art in Cadore, without having to emigrate to the cities and to the plain.
