Folkest Showcase for international emerging artists in world music is a brand new part of Folkest festival program. It’ll be held in on July 4th, 5th t and 6th in San Daniele del Friuli, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy.
8 European Emerging Artists will be selected by international jury for participation in the Folkest Showcase – part of one of the most important Folk festivals in Southern Europe.
The selected artists will be listened and seen by professional international bookers, festival programmers, musical directors and our festival audience! They will have an opportunity to get feedback from the professionals, to expand their professional network, even to get new bookings for future shows and to participate in Folk Clinic training sessions.
Folkest Showcase Festival and Showcase is a member of UPBEAT – The European Showcase Platform for World Music. Our showcase project is supported by Upbeat, European Union, Friuli Venezia Giulia Government and the Municpality of San Daniele del Friuli.

What Folkest Showcase offers to the Emerging Artists:
• Full access to all festival concerts, network events and Folk Clinic training sessions;
• Exposure and feedback from a pool of international professionals in the music industry, bookers, festival, programmers and musical curators, journalists and experts;
• Booking opportunities by our international and national delegates;
• To increase significantly your knowledge and your network during our Folk Clinic training sessions;
• 500€ budget per band and hotel accommodation for 1 night between July 4th and 6th;
• Folkest Showcase are open to bands from all EU countries and Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Georgia, Tunisia and Ukraine.
Artists /Group must be:
• World music projects and bands;
• Ready to perform a 40 minutes showcase concert;
• Artists have to be ready for a very intensive program, including meetings, trainings, networking events during their stay in San Daniele del Friuli;
Participation Requirements
The showcases are reserved for European Emerging Artists.
What do we mean for European Emerging Artist?
European Emerging Artist means that the artist/group must be legally resident in one of the Countries eligible for the project and must meet certain requirements. Eligible countries are all European Union countries plus Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Georgia, Tunisia and Ukraine.
Emerging Artist must have a profile that meets at least 5 of the following criteria:
• The Artist/Group must not have released more than 3 albums;
• Must not have passed more than 5 years since the release of the first album of the group that enters the competition;
• The Artist/Group must not have more than 20,000 followers on social media (on each channel);
• The average age of the Group must not exceed 35 years;
• The Artist / Group must not have participated in an international tour of more than 10 dates;
• The Artist / Group must not have a contract with an international label;
• The Artist / Group must have a constant web presence (website and social media);
• The Artist / Group must have given at least one concert in a professional situation.
The selection of participating artists will be made by an international jury, chosen from among the invited international delegates of Folkest Showcase. Final decisions of the jury will be communicated on Folkest web site and social media. Every Artist/Group who applied to Folkest Showcase will receive an email from the organization.
