Near to the Tagliamento River, on a rocky spur in one of the most scenic and picturesque spots of Ragogna, stand the remains of the ancient Castle of San Pietro. Its construction dates back to the 11th century. Only recently, after many years of abandonment and the destruction caused by the 1976 earthquake, it has undergone a meticulous restoration that is nearing completion. The best view is from the road leading up to the mountain: one can see the crenellated walls with the North gate, the lookout tower, the inner courtyard with the well, and a series of buildings that originally housed the cellars, dungeons, kitchens, and stables.
